So, this week we dropped the babies off to Nan and Papa's and took the two olders to a national dance competition. we got here Sunday and have waited until today (actually yesterday 7/6/2010) to compete. Brileigh went this morning with her solo and had this evening as well. it was great, the first solo went well - not to complain but a a studio was bumped to our division and had no biz being there and stole the show, regardless - Brileigh scored well and took 8th overall!
in between sessions we went back to the hotel - even went to try our luck at the NY NY roller coaster ride - snuffed us out tho, Brileigh and Dalton are not big enough to ride it. we came back, ate and went back to the Miss Jr. Dance show.
Brileigh was up 2nd and she was WORKING it! Her teacher had modified her solo a bit and made it a bit more fancy - and Brileigh was ALL over it, working the faces and then as she was performing a move in her solo that she has done A LOT of times - the unthinkable happened...she fell, and it was a good fall. as her father - this has been a fear - she is always top 5 and every time she has competed for title she has got it! this was it tho - no way, the judges were not scoring tap well anyway - let alone a fall in the routine. well, one of the happiest things that has happened to me was seeing that little girl hop up and work the best of her ability the rest of that routine. it was amazing! so excited and happy and full of joy.
she didn't place and she was sad afterwords but the thing is this - this is life. we fall - that's not always a sin thing or cuz we do bad but maybe we lose a job or the company folds - we need to just get up, and keep dancing - smiling the whole time, just like my little girl did - i am so happy!
